The forever dog

This piece was commissioned for my step-niece's mother of her forever dog. The flyaway shaggy fur, hidden eyes, and hint of a tongue made for a fun and distinctive closeup.

Pet portraits make unique and meaningful gifts. When her mother received this painting shortly before the passing of her beloved Hank, she was moved to tears. She told me later that she couldn't get over how I had captured her dog's personality, and that when she looks at the portrait, she feels like she is looking at Hank himself.

Good photography is needed to commission a painting, particularly if looking for a strong likeness with a subject. Sometimes it's best if you can provide a few different options to choose from, as there may be one that suits being painted better than others.
