A special place

A close family member commissioned this portrait painting for her father in law when his wife tragically passed too young. This was his favourite photo of the two of them at their family summer place, snapped at the exact spot where he proposed to her many years ago.

Custom portraits make such unique and meaningful gifts. I chose a limited palette of cobalt blue and India yellow along with black and white, creating a piece with a light touch, unique atmosphere, and which nicely features the water and the golden sunset.

Good photography is needed to commission a painting, particularly if looking for a strong likeness with a subject. Sometimes it's best if you can provide a few different options to choose from, as there may be one that suits being painted better than others.
